As book lovers, we all have our favorite genre. We often shop for our next book by genre, and we enjoy sharing our "most purchased" genre badges with our friends on social. But as book lovers we also know there is something more exciting and enticing than genres…book tropes!
For those who may not be as familiar with them, you may be wondering, what is a book trope? Book tropes are a recurring theme or element which appears in a work of literature. They represent a literary construct or a pattern that provides some semblance of a story arc to the book. There are familiar and popular tropes, like "Enemies to Lovers" and "Fated Mates," to some lesser-known tropes like "Dark Family Secret." Different genres have their own tropes, while the same trope can also show up across genres. As a reader, you may have tropes you love, tropes you hate, and, of course, those tropes you love to hate! You may have your favorite trope, or you may enjoy reading books from a wide spectrum of tropes. Whatever it is, as a book lover, tropes are likely a part of your reading enjoyment.
All of us at ThriftBooks believe tropes deserve to have their time in the sun. So, we are kicking off a bit of a Trope Era by introducing the ThriftBooks TropeTrove™, a collection of book titles organized by various tropes. In this dedicated section of ThriftBooks.com you can search for books by popular tropes or seek out recommendations based upon certain book tropes you enjoy. Our TropeTrove collection is something we will be building upon throughout the months ahead so stay tuned for ongoing communications on new TropeTrove additions.
There is more trope news! We are thrilled to introduce to you our first ever TropeTote™ collection! TropeTotes are dumpling tote bags custom-designed by booklovers, for booklovers. Each TropeTote has a design interpretation of a different trope, created by artists from the book community. This collaboration has been so exciting to pull together over the past several months and we are grateful for all the artists who are a part of this collection.
Our first TropeTote is Forbidden Romance! This trope was designed by MJ King, founder of Instagram sensation Shop Ambrosia & Honey. You can receive your very own Forbidden Romance tote FREE with a minimum purchase of $35 of Used Books. Add the tote to your cart and use promo code DESIRE at checkout. But don’t delay…this is a limited-edition tote, so this offer is only good while supplies last.
