Hi, for all of you wanna be Flight Attendants out there - check out the chapter in this book entitled THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT'S PRAYER - about how the author dealt with going back to work after 911. I think you'll love it, as well, as the soon to be released title by the same author, FLYING BY THE SEAT OF MY PANTS: FLIGHT ATTENDANT ADVENTURES ON A WING AND A PRAYER. How do I know so much about these books? Honey, I wrote them... just for you! Happy Flying...Marsha Marks
Things You Never Learned in Kindergarten
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 21 years ago
"101 Simple Lessons for Life" never pretends to be compared to Martin Luther's "Catechism." That's why Marsha Marks calls it simple. Her pithy, biblical, and friendly book is as approachable as an old friend in a coffee shop. Reading each 'lesson' is like poking in on a conversation, and her manner of writing asks the reader into the discussion. Each short chapter relates a truth. Some are brief, being only a sentence long. Others are a few pages. There are personal, anecdotal chapters, like "The Lost Child" which relates a stream of panic while looking for her young daughter. Marks thought she was kidnapped, when, in reality, she was trying to take a shower. The lesson here? With an experience like this, Marks now knows more about what God must have felt when He saw His children were lost from Him and needed a savior. Some are directly practical, like in "Ten Things to Look for in a Husband." She lists ten features a woman should look for in a potential mate, like patience, outside interests, and gentleness. She cites how her own husband meets these criteria. Some are succinct. "Inside Image" says, "What you put into your heart, mind, and soul will determine the image that is reflected out." That's it. You've just read the entire chapter. Filtered throughout are biblical passages connected with many of the chapters. As warm as her writing is, Marks never waters down her belief that ultimately, God is the answer to all of life's troubles. She is never preachy, but stands firm that the truth of God will set you free. Whether you enjoyed "Prayer of Jabez" or the "Chicken Soup" series, or "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten," be assured that you will find "101 Simple Lessons for Life" as a fine follow-up. I fully recommend it. Anthony Trendl editor, HungarianBookstore.com
Little Book That Delivers A Big Punch

If you are looking for a book that is not preachy but yet inspiring, funny but yet insightful, then this is the one for you. I very seldom read religious books but this one is not like the others. The author uses her own zany life experiences to offer messages of hope and encouragement. A powerful little book that will make you laugh and think about your own life's journey.

I've never enjoyed an ispirational book more than this one, OK, maybe something by Anne Lamott, but 101 SIMPLE LESSONS FOR LIFE, is downright hilarious, in places...and truly insightful. Sort of like "The Road Less Traveled" meets "Traveling Mercies" meets a bit of C. S. Lewis...meets Lucille Ball. I immediatly went to the authors website to find out about her other books. I highly recommend this book. In fact my neighbor who got an advance copy said, you don't even have to be religious to like this book. And I agree. It's kind of a classic. Funny and serious in one book.
