Overall this is a good puzzle book. The diagrams are clear and are in modern format. The answers are in algerbraic notatation for those afraid of descripitive. Also the responses are in the back so you wont accidently cheat. The mates in one are little harder than in some other books because they dont come from real game situations. So they acttualy make you work for the answers. The reason I gave this compalation of puzzles only four stars was there is a few typos in the anwers. Considering the price this book is worth it to sharpen your agresiveness.
Makes you look carefully

As another reviewer wrote, these are not real game type positions. If you want that, try 303 Tricky Checkmates by these same authors. However, these positions are very helpful for making the student look carefully. The first 100 problems are checkmates in 1, but these are not your typical mate in 1 problems. They are hard, because when you move a piece, you end up blocking or unblocking another. Sometimes you cannot make the move that seems to mate because of a pin. These are things that beginner level players often overlook and that makes this book good training material.
