helped me with my wireless telecom industry career!

I just switched jobs going to a major wireless telecom industry manufacturer and I credit this book in helping me with background information to quickly jump-start in my new career. This book covers basic information on both the First and Second Generation technologies (analog and digital), GPRS and EDGE (2.5 Generation), CDMA 2000 and Wideband CDMA technologies. There are chapters on wireless phones, networks, economics and applications which includes good market data. I have purchased several books on the wireless industry but found this to be the most useful, and this is the only one that covers all the elements in one book. Also the way the authors connect all the chapters and use historical and factual data is very interesting as well, and the almost 500 pages can be read in a a few days with no major problems.
Making complex subjects understandable

This has to be one of the best 3G books for all levels around, from novices to the experienced network technologists. Its technical depth and detail is astounding, the author really takes time to illustrate and explain concepts, not simply list them. Making this books very readable and informative. After reading this book, even novices who had the impression that 3G was a difficult subject to understand would become an expect on it.The book really does demystified, making complex subjects understandable.
A great book for both tech and non-tech readers

This book gives very clear pictures on the wireless communications. Extensive usage of drawings helped to explain the technologies in an easy way to understand. It is a good book for general education as well as references for wireless applications developers. I like the chapter 10, 3rd Generation Wireless Applications, most. If you are a developer, you may get some inspirations from the book.
In depth, understandable and readable

Reading this book was a breeze. Misters Harte, Levine and Kikta have transformed the hottest topic of the telecom industry into an understandable and easy readable format, without sacrificing depth of content. All of the key issues-- GPRS and EDGE, WCDMA, CDMA2000 and applications are covered. Having previously read other books by these authors, I find that their writing style enables anybody to understand subject matter that you would think only experts could decypher. I highly recommend 3G Wireless Demystified!
very good overview of 3G

This is a very good overview of 3G wireless mobile systems. It covers both the technology, networks, products, applications, services and is generally well-written. It isn't really an engineering manual on 3G but then it doesn't claim to be.
