9 Habits of Highly Profitable Writing: A Proven System for Earning a Full-Time Living

How is it I can make a full-time living from writing while the overwhelming majority of people at writing conferences can't? Each chapter here is an attempt to answer that question.To start with, it's the wrong question. It's wrong because it assumes something that isn't true. Other people can make a full-time living from writing. The clients I coach into writing careers generally transition within a year. The real question is subtly, but importantly different.Why do I make a full-time living at this while the overwhelming majority of people at writing conferences don't?What a difference a verb makes. It's not that the folks who go to writing conferences while publishing a few articles a year and working a day job can't become full-time writers if they want to. It's that they make choices that make it a bad idea. This book is an attempt to identify some of those choices, and suggest other choices that have made it possible for me to make all the money I need from writing, instead of working a nine-to-fiver and pounding out a few words when I find the time. My first book on writing, Writing is Serious Business, looked at the business side of those choices. It detailed the stuff I learned from successfully (and unsuccessfully!) running brick-and-mortar businesses for the first 15 years of my adult life. In here, we're look at the personal side. We'll cover concepts I discovered were important during my time in the business world, and techniques from my martial arts experience that helped me turn those concepts into habits.
