This hardcover book is absolutely darling! Each letter of the alphabet is represented by a different common object which would have been found during Colonial times such as A for Anvil, B for Bird Bottle, C for Cannon, D for drum. A brief description of the item and how it was used is also included in very simple terms which youngsters can easily understand. The illustrations are gorgeous featuring two small children, who are appropriately dressed in Colonial garb of course. This is a great book for preschoolers and would be especially relevant for a supplement to a homeschool unit study on Early America.
