To the extent that you can learn about a country in a photoessay, this book succeeds

Since the publication of this book in 1988, there have been many changes in Spain. Nevertheless, the collection of photos gives a collective snapshot of the life of the country, for as some demonstrate; there has been no change in the lives of many Spanish people in centuries. Photographic essays about a country are by definition superficial yet they are generally fascinating in what they reveal about the people, the climate and the culture. While you cannot learn an enormous amount about a country in a book like this, with the proper state of mind, it is possible to learn a great deal. I found it a very enjoyable book.
