A "who-done-it?" that picks up speed with calculated momentum as each new character is introduced. I had to admonish myself not to speed-read (like gulping dessert) so that I could absorb every meaningful clue as the tension mounted. A familiarity with church politics could conceivably increase a reader's enjoyment of this page-turner, but it wasn't at all necessary in order to imagine the gossiping and sniping that might well occur behind any set of heavily-carved wooden doors.
