Augustine is a lovely French girl who arrives in Provo, Utah to attend the Brigham Young University. The time is the 1950's. Her mother's friend provides the money for her to do so. She is soon caught up in a fun romance with a rich, southern playboy, Emory Charles Tuckett, III. Her history professor, Dr. Hans Bekker, is also extremely intriguing. He is a German, and she has been taught to hate the Germans because of her family's nightmarish experiences during the war. The author's descriptions of France, Salt Lake City, Provo, Utah, BYU and dorm life are accurate. The story has serious overtones, but not overdone. I enjoyed this book because the characters are likeable and absorbing. The plot is believeable and interesting too. I am looking forward to reading more of this author's versatile work.
