Great guide to the wild side just outside of Miami.

We spent a week in Southern Florida a year ago tooling around in a rental car with camping gear. What good sense of me to get this excellent little guide before planning the trip. It provided us with good information about Everglades National Park, of course, but also about the National Forests and State Parks nearby. There are lots of places to explore and campsites available to you. I particularly want to recommend Collier-Seminole State Park for those who don't know about it. Camping there was superb, and that park is within an easy drive to the many fine beaches and wilderness reserves on the SE Florida coast. We spent one memorable morning at this park on a Kayak and the price of that guided tour was very reasonable. So I recommend this guide to the wilderness areas near Miami. When we were at the National Park they were tearing down the hotel so camping was the only option. This guide was not quite up-to-date about that, but maybe a newer edition is being planned. If you go with camping gear, you don't need a motel or resort to stay in, but you probably will need reservations for any campground in midwinter.
