In this highly readable handbook on the fundamental teachings of Buddhism, Sangharakshita guides us unerringly through the complex tradition of Buddhism, revealing the beauty and richness of the essential teachings of the Buddha. A Guide to the Buddhist Path is a reliable map of the Buddhist way that anyone can follow.
Sangharakshita was founder of Friends of the West Buddhist Order, one of the first and more popular western Buddhist orders, and a prolific author. This text offers fluid explanations on many of the core aspects of Buddhism and is written in a approachable manner. It is not an encyclopedia but more like Dharma discussions. The sections of Part I include an Introduction, The Buddha, The Dharma, The Sangha; Part II covers Morality, Meditation, Wisdom; Then Appendices. Each subsection has around six tertiary articles. This was a required text from a college class. I go back to it once in a while because it a refresher on the basics but keeps a heartfelt approach.
