My name is Rebecca, and this is my husbands account. I wanted to take the time to share my review on this wonderful book. Mary McCracken's, "A Legacy of Hope" is a book you will find difficult to put down once you begin. Mary opens wide the door of her life and invites the reader to experience her journey. Her candid approach in revealing her own personal struggles and how the love of Christ brought her through is like a refreshing rain of healing for whatever challenge you may be facing in your own life.
A Hope that is Firmly Grounded

This is an excellent book of encouragement not only for those with a dysfunctional past, but for anyone going through hard times for a season. (Don't we all at one time or another in our lives?) The truth of ll Cor. 1:3-7 is really brought out in this book; rather than mucking about in her own "Slough of Despond," the author uses her own experiences of God's comfort to her in order to comfort others in similar circumstances. Written in a very engaging manner, she draws us in to experience both her joys and sorrows. Her hope for her readers is firmly grounded, knowing that as we share in her sufferings we can also share in the comfort she was blessed with as she learned to put her trust and reliance in God.
Testimony Of God's Grace

I have known Ray and Mary McCracken for years. I know Mary sank deep into depression over the loss of her husband. Now Mary writes this book which is such a strong testimony of the Grace of God. How God has lifted her up and now enabled her to write such a wonderful book. I would strongly remend it to anyone to read.
This is a Blockbuster

I would call this a blockbuster book. It takes the reader through the horrendous downs and delightful ups of Mary's life. I found that I could not put it down once I started it. Her story is a great encourgement to women who feel they have nothing to offer. It's full of examples of how the Lord takes someone and fills her life with purpose. You will want to pass this book along to other women, and even girls who are at the threshhold of the adult years.
God's amazing providence

This book gives us a picture of the struggles of a young girl born into a troubled home, and how God uses people and circumstances to make her one of his children. Her insecurities don't simply vanish as she grows older; she must deal with them regularly as she encounters numerous trials. We see a woman choosing to trust and obey God rather than wallow in self-pity. Her thankful spirit and praise of God is evident throughout the book.
