Some time ago, after I became a Christian and was born again, I believed that the most important event in my life was accepting Jesus Christ as my Savior. I still believe that is absolutely true. Around that same time I also thought that the will of God was to bring more people into His kingdom so that His Son Jesus Christ would receive all the glory with the Father, and that in doing so He would enlarge His kingdom by adding more citizens, more adopted sons with whom to enjoy His kingdom. While all of this is true, the Lord has been showing me that there is more. He has a bigger purpose for the corporate Body of Christ, which includes all of us individual believers. So then, what is the purpose of our life together as the church?Have you ever felt this way?-That you were very spiritual while in the building or place called "church" but less spiritual or not spiritual at all as you got away from that building or place?-That your spirituality is determined by whether you show up at those buildings or places called "churches," but then you don't feel too concerned with spirituality the rest of the week?-That you did the right thing by showing up and attending what we call a "church worship service," but went away empty and dry spiritually? All of the above result from thinking that the church is a building or a place rather than realizing that we, the believers, are the church.
