Tolbert Fanning was a giant, both literally (at 6'6") and figuratively. His influence was widespread in his day, though many church historians have chosen to either ignore or greatly minimize his importance (probably because most of the church histories are written by those who identify with the liberals that Fanning fought against much of his life). His influence still comes down to this day, as one of his papers, The Gospel Advocate, is still being published today. It is a shame that he is not more well-known.
