Dennis Montgomery tells how Goodwin, "the restless rector of an antique Episcopal church," and philanthropist John D. Rockefeller formed a respectful parnership in the 1920s to create a "full-scale restoration of 18-century Williamsburg, Virginia." Montgomery's writing is at once precise, engrossing, and anecdotal. Both historians and lovers of Colonial Williamsburg will certainly enjoy this fiine book.
