The way Black people express themselves causes thought-provoking concerns for White people. Brian looks at the system of oppression as the catalyst that promotes such manifestations. The fact that Whites believe Blacks are less than productive suggest they are no longer bound by their oppressors. Brian believes Blacks are on a slow moving, steady rise toward achieving their rightful identity. Brian also believes that the fear Whites experience comes from knowing that in the end, who Blacks are and where they come from points them in a direction where Whites cannot follow. Black potentiality is the reason for White discomfort, uneasiness, and fear of change.
