This book is great for newbies to knitting as well as seasoned knitters. The presentations are over a wide range of topics and are well written and enjoyable. I have been knitting for years and found several tips that were new to me. I ordered several copies to be sent to friends who are wishing to learn knitting skills and have recommended it to skilled knitters, for their sheer enjoyment.
Good for English knitters

I am a beginning knitter and was looking for a good how to book with clear illustrations. This book is great if you knit in the english manner. I knit continental which this book does not address. I gave it to a friend who knits english and she loves it so that is why I gave it four stars. It was however no use to me. I wish this author would do this book for continental knitters.
Great Book for Beginners!

My serch for an introduction to knitting book has ended!! A Passion for Knitting had everything I was looking for in a knitting book. Detailed information on yarns and tools, step by step instructions with photos teaching the basics of this art form, instructions for reading knitting patterns (with a listing of common knitting terms and their abbreviations), and a variety of projects aimed at the beginning knitter. The above is only the first half of the book! The second half is dedicated to exploring the world of knitting, it's trends and traditions.
A passion indeed!

I just started knitting and this book has been an excellent resource. I've learned terms, stitches, patterns, and all sorts of history. The projects are cute and fun and well explained. The book has tons of information that makes complicated steps easy. This is an excellent book for beginners!!
One man's passion for knitting satisfied

This book will take you a long way if your passion is knitting. Part "learn to knit", part "develop skills", part history book, and most importantly for me, a guide to the rest of the knitting world, including knitting for charitable purposes and the whole world of online knitters and resources. That the authors have a real passion for knitting is obvious and they are great knitting "missionaries". They are never pushy, but if you have any interest in knitting and this book doesn't get you fired up, nothing will. It's a great resource that covers a whole lot of territory well. If I could only have one book on knitting, I think this would be it.
