Dating from the 1840s to 1946, they provide not only an invaluable record of Cambridge's history but a review of a century of developments in popular photography as well. All of the photographs are captioned. An Introduction by Charles Sullivan discusses the development of photography in the city. The chapter on George K. Warren, Cambridge's foremost photographer in the late 19th century, and the index of Cambridge photographs will be especially useful to researchers and historians.
