A Promise Engraved by Liz Tolsma is the eighth book in the multi-author Doors to the Past series. This is a dual-timeline story. Josie Wilkins lives in Texas around the time of the Battle of the Alamo. Kayleigh Hewland lives in present-day San Antonio. When Kayleigh finds a small gold ring it opens the door to the past. What mysteries will she uncover as she researches the inscription on the inside of the ring? The story started off kind of slow; but it picked up and kept you riveted until the final chapter. There was a lot of sadness in the story but happiness as well; and it was filled with well-researched historical tidbits. I really enjoyed learning a little more of the history of Texas.
I received this book from Celebrate-Lit for my honest review.

A PROMISE ENGRAVED (DOORS TO THE PAST, #8)
by Liz Tolsma
This is a unique mystery, romance Alamo novel set in a dual timeline of the 1830s and present-day San Antonio de Bexar. There is a great mystery involving a women's ring.
Josie Wilkins has an adventurous spirit, always willing to help with messages for the people of San Antonio, before it became Texas. John Gilbert is a preacher who is a fighter within the resistance against Santa Anna, a Mexican general, for the freedom of Texas.
Kayleigh Hewland has discovered a unique women's ring with an engraving on it in a flea market booth, that she'd like to read, so she talks to Brandon Mullins, a jeweler to find out what the engraving says and what it might mean.
These two couples are 200 years apart, though they are all fighting for the people that they love.
