A Scribe's Journey: Drawing, Lettering, Painting, Writing
For more than 45 years Annie Cicale has worked as a visual artist, producing a large volume of work. This book is a collection of some of that work, with background information on historical figures who have influenced her, and many contemporary artists who continue to inspire. Her media has included drawing and painting, as well as printmaking and artist's books. She has focused on the lettering arts, doing professional calligraphy and incorporating text in much of her work. Her imagery includes abstraction, portraits and botanical illustration. The book could be called an Art-O-Biography, as she includes details from her life which have influenced her work. Her first lettering book, The Art & Craft of Hand Lettering, is now in its fifth printing. This new book is not a sequel; it's more of a companion that shows the wide range of possibilities she has worked with over many years.
