Donna Kenworthy's first book, A 1-900 PSYCHIC SPEAKS, told of her experiences working as a professional psychic. Her memoir, A SOUL PROMISE, relates her lifelong spiritual quest. From her first mystical experience with the Divine Light as a young child, she felt a longing for her true home. Questions filled her mind that traditional answers and dogma could never satisfy. Ever the seeker rather than a follower, she allowed herself to remain open to esoteric teachings, personal supernatural occurrences, and inner knowing. In the late 1970's, her life changed dramatically when she had an out-of-body experience and returned in the company of a spirit guide. In the ensuing years, Ms. Kenworthy became a channel for her guide, who offered psychic as well as philosophical information. In 1986, shaken by having had foreknowledge of the nuclear accident at Chernobyl, she left behind her native California to seek the reason she had been given such remarkable information. In the midst of her quest, an astounding vision captures her soul. As she chronicles her personal spiritual journey, sharing her fears, doubts, and wonders, she continues to try to decode the mystery of a recurrent message, "Now is the Time " It would take many years for her to discover that her earthly mission was to learn who and what we really are. In the end, she acknowledges that her younger self knew all along. We are not these physical beings, but spiritual beings whose true home is with God.
"A Soul Promise-A Spiritual Quest", by Donna Kenworthy, is one of the best and most inspiring autobiographical narrative I have ever had the priviledge to read. If you haven't picked up the book yet, I strongly encourage you to do so. She's a writer of great depth and insight.
metaphysical story

A Souls Promise was a pleasant surprise; a wonderful story about this woman and how she comes to realize her life, her gift, and her destiny. It is also informative about other aspects of the nature of metaphysics, including referances to Edgar Cayce, and other concepts. A wonderful read.
SHE KEPT HER PROMISE

Completing A Soul Promise took author Donna Kenworthy from California to Arizona and finally to Virginia Beach. A single mother with two daughters, she accepted the challenge and never looked back. But it is not just words from her open heart which she has captured into her easy to read memoir - it is a journey of discovery which helped her learn who she is and to delight in being that person. She can turn around and look at her travels and know that she doesn't have to wonder "what if?" - or where she would be if she had not made that promise to her soul and took that first step. Now, although she may be far from her starting point, she is happy in being who she is; there are no gaps in her past. She has integrated her sudden and unexpected out of body experience and psychic development into a personal spiritual journey. The pain and pleasures of her odyssey meet and integrate, reminding me of the poster of the woman standing on the edge of a cliff with the words, "What do you do when you reach the end?" This is followed by two words: "You fly." In my mind's eye, Donna has done just that. But it is more than 175 printed pages of reflections. For those who question where and who they may be, it could serve as a road map to trust in their higher consciousness, to listen to the voice tapping in their mind that wants to be heard. Along the way readers will be introduced to an array of interesting people including Mark, her spirit guide, Davie, another seeker who came dangerously close to mentally controlling her, and Charles, who encouraged her move to Virginia Beach which ended this phase of her spiritual development. There is no doubt that her spiritual development will continue. As Donna concludes in her book: "I know who I am now. I am a spiritual being living in a spiritual universe filled with love. Some day I and everyone else shall return to our true home in the Light." And as one who keeps beginning and stopping her spiritual development, I can only hope that I will eventually learn to trust in my inner voice and be among them.
The inside scoop

Ever wonder what it is like being a psychic - or how one becomes a psychic? This book traces the author's development from her first inclinations to her decision to do no more readings. Hopefully that is not a final decision. She writes in a flowing style and this book, like her last,is a good read. She explains the responsabilities and pitfalls of being a psychic - it is not "fortune telling". Anyone interested in the world of ESP will find this fascinating as I did. Lawrence M Steinhart
