This book definitely serves its purpose. In my college developmental psychology class we do a lot of reading, and this book makes it interesting and understandable. The only thing that I don't like is that throughout the writing there are parenthesis with the names of the researchers who found the information. It gets kind of confusing. But other than that, it's a great book that I would certainly recommend!

it's a textbook

Okay, this is a textbook for a lower-level course in psychology of human development. It is pretty simplistic, I think. I wouldn't buy it unless it was assigned to me in a class or I was writing TV screen play and need some names and vocabulary to stick in a character's mouth.
