Touched by an Angel

One can only view this book with your heart. As Camille Yorkey reached out to those in need, filling her heart with all their pain, her ability to comfort became ever present with each day. Her journaling gave her a way to cleanse this pain, and gave us her experiences of the wonderful men and woman who gave their all each day in the aftermath of this horror. Thank you, for touching each and everyone of our lives as well. Your ability to touch peoples hearts and minds with understanding is truly God's gift.

Tragic stories tempered with theology, hope for recovery

What I liked most about this book was that it was more than just an account of events and people at Ground Zero. The author uses the stories of Ground Zero as an entrance to wide-ranging philosophical and theological discussions -- including discussions on the various stages of grief and recovery, inclusiveness, forgiveness, religion (both traditional Christian and more non-traditional views), generosity, and love. The book definitely doesn't present a historical or comprehensive look at the activities at Ground Zero. Instead, the author presents a personal account of her experiences working as a chaplain at the site, the people she met, the stories she heard, and her own emotions, interwoven with stories from her own life and meditations on the road towards emotional healing. Reading her meditations helped me work through my own complex emotions and thoughts in the aftermath of the tragedy.Other books relate tragic stories from Ground Zero -- this one offers comfort and counsel and thoughts for the recovery, as well.

Ground Zero with heart !

I was lucky enough to meet the author and get a signed copy. It is a masterpiece. It is like no other book I have ever read because it came straight from the author's heart and she has a heck of a lot of that. I intended to read a little before I turned out the light over my bed but couldn't stop until I finished it. I don't think anyone has ever been so honest in print before. I knew as I was reading that I was meeting the survivors and the workers where they live every day, in their memories.I thought the book would be too religious for my blood, but it's not. It's a book for anyone and everyone. This book will be the most appreciated book this year. In the foreword, Mr. Duckworth says in part, "You will discover that the opportunity to see any of the world through the eyes of Reverend Camille O. Yorkey, even if only for a few moments, is truly a blessing."Truer words were never spoken.I may read the book again tonight if I go to bed early enough.
