Chances are, if you like well-written litterature, WITH an interesting plot, amazingly portrayed characters and are interested in gay history, you won't put this intense book down before you've finished it. It is truly captivating, with likable characters an a reasonable enough amount of "mysteries" to keep you interested. While not a "mystery" book per se, there is a plot and enough to keep you guessing (even when you're done with it...). It is also a very interesting look at different eras: the plot navigates between the 90s and the 70s then 80s. It is clever, cleverly written and captivating. It made me laugh and - almost - cry (I don't cry easily...) and all in all, it was a wonderful experience and "journey". It is a wonder really that Laurence Brown isn't up there with the likes of Maupin and such on the gay writers stage, under the spotlights...
