Overview level text, attractive photos, not a how-to book

As the title suggests, this is not the first book to rush out and buy. But it also isn't really an "advanced" book either. More of an overview without depth. What this glossy book does offer are wonderful pictures, mostly of British or European model railroads. It gives a fairly complete overview of many basic modeling techniques. If you're looking for such advanced concepts as digital control, signals, realistic train operation, etc., look elsewhere. Likewise this book lacks the gritty tips and personal feel of many model RR books (e.g. the Klambach series). But for the price it is a nice overview, and as with every decent modeling book, it provided me with at least one novel scenery-building idea. I love the flint walls and the vegetable gardens
