irreverent fun too!

Irreverent: lacking proper respect or seriousness: which means preschoolers will ADORE this book and adults will get the monty pythoness satire! We won both Cow books in a local contest and my 2 year old LOVED them immediately. She instantly got the satire and was able to say on each page (that's ___, not ___). We read the books as humor and my daughter enjoys showing off how much 'smarter' she is than Cow as she knows what each page 'really' is. She goes to the grocery store shopping with us, so she adores this book more than the original. We read them together, then she reads them to us and her stuffed toys. It really is quite cute and these are the first books she is totally attached to! I think some kids may not quiet get the humor due to their sense of humor. If your kid likes odd humor, then they'll LOVE these books!

This car has spent 3 weeks in my van. Every morning as I haul 5 kids to elementary school there is a fight over who would gets to read it first. Without fail, all the kids (and often times myself, as well) are laughing at the antics of Cow by the time we arrive. What a great way to start the day!
The best part of being silly is feeling good

Cow is intelligent and very, very silly. My nephew laughs his head off every time we read it. And when we're finished reading it, we're ready for more fun. When we read the first Cow book, we ended every conversation with the last line from Cow's first adventure: "But Cow didn't care about all that. He just wanted to play checkers." I can't imagine a better introduction to reading, or to seeing life as a fun, silly adventure. It's a delicious gift for young and old-er.
