The book dispels the stereotypical view of Africans living in simple, primitive, look-alike agglomerations, scattered about without any appreciation for planning and design.
Wonderful work. I read this after I took a course with him at NYU. Excellent professor, historian, africanist and an overall great man. Informative and brilliant, just like him.
Can't believe...

...that I'm the first one to review this book. It's a little gem that dispels so many myths about Black people. Part of regaining who we are is to understand that we were not put here to serve. That business, architecture, administration and wealth are as central to our culture as spirituality and prior to this 500 year nightmare, those things were omnipresent amongst our societies. It is imperative that Africans come to this realization.
