informative, well-written, wonderful look into AIDS

i used this book as my textbook for my Understanding AIDS class, a pre-requisite for the degree i'm pursuing in college. this book is well-written, in plain terms. it gives you more then the cold, hard facts. personal stories, emotions, and the author's take on issues concerning being HIV+ and living with AIDS. this book isn't dry at all, rather a book that really helps you think about how you can make a difference, and how to give respect and dignity to those who are living with AIDS or HIV.

Best book on HIV/AIDS

I was fortunate enough to take Dr. Stine's AIDS course during my undergrad. Dr. Stine combs through the literature and news on a daily basis in order to keep these annual AIDS Updates current and relevant. We used this book as a text; however, it doesn't read like a text. Dr. Stine has a passion for increasing public awareness of this pandemic. This book not only gives a great overview of AIDS biology, but covers the social aspects as well. Very well written. I highly recommend this book.

This book is an excellent way to educate yourself about AIDS. Dr. Stine explains the medical terms and the basis of the disease in a way that is very clear without being too simplistic. In addition to general information about HIV/AIDS, there is very new and specific information about research progress. This is an excellent resource for the most current collection of information on the subject.
