I think this is definitely one of the best book I have read in french! The level of langage reaches a quality rarely seen. I dont think somebody who doesnt master french very well could enjoy this book though. Gilles Leroy plays with the words, their meanings, their sounds in an awe-inspiring way! What you need to know is that Gilles Leroy does not pretend to write a biography, it is a book inspired by Zelda & Scott Fitzgerald and he suggests a fiction based on their lives. Read it as you would read a fiction novel, you will enjoy it even more since it will remind you of people who actually existed. As far as I am concerned I like this new approach. Usually it is either one. Either it is a fiction novel, or it is a biography that claims to say the truth (but a writer always guesses anyway). This new gender could confuse, but I really found it interesting. That said, this story is amazingly complex, sensitive and intelligent. This is the story of a sensitive woman... sensitive and maybe too expressive. Thus she was regarded as crazy. But the author will convince you that she was not. This is the story of a woman who has been abused and used. This is the story of a woman who abused and used too. This is the story of a woman who had everything to succeed to begin with, who chose another destiny full of passion and fame, and who ended forgotten and penniless. I want more books like that!!
