Alzheimer's, Dementia & Memory Loss: Straight Talk for Families & Caregivers is a book that I wish I had the opportunity to own when my grandma had been with us. There were so many things that my dad and I learned after reading this book. We found various forms of peace and that is invaluable. Monica is a compassionate writer and her ability to share complex topics in a way that draw you in is truly inspiring. The book covered a full range of concerns and advice for those suffering with Alzheimer's and those that care for those suffering. The book is not preachy or text-book like, yet it shares very detailed knowledge from experts in medial and social care. The book is not just a generic book of stories either. In a word, it is REAL. As an organization and productivity professional, I really appreciate the parts of the book that help the reader understand the physical impacts of the disease and tips on communication, compassion and understanding. I have given copies of this book to professional care givers, friends and fellow consultants/coaches because it holds relavancy to all of the groups. Thank you Monica for putting your heart and soul into months of research and relationships in order to write this book.
You'll immediately think of others who could benefit

This is the second book that I've purchased from Monica Vest Wheeler's "Coping Series". Immediately after reading it, I purchased 5 more copies just to have on-hand to give away. This disease is something that impacts individuals, caregivers and extended families in deeply profound ways and in simple bittersweet ways. The author has a way of telling the stories of real people in a way that makes you realize that you aren't alone in your experience. There's not a single section of this book that's "preachy"... it's just filled with thoughts and tips and information and hope. If you have a loved one who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's or Dementia and you want to learn from others who have walked the path before you, this book is a must-read.
