i was a 37 yr old, career woman and a first time mother. I received this same book only it was "Caring For Your Child from Birth to 5yr of Age". I followed this book precisely and did not have any problems during those years with my son. We taught him how to go to sleep on his own, broke him from the pacifier and bottle, naps, separation or anything else you address during these years. I was known by friends as the "By the Book Mom". It made those years SO EASY. Well now of course we are in to the talking back, eye rolling years. It took me 6 months to find it and really didn't know if it existed. Finally found it and once again this book is GREAT. It is based on the precise question you may have for a particular problem. It tells you exactly, some time verbatim, on how to handle issues that will and could come up during the teen years. Again, I will be by the book mom. An added note is I also purchased the "Caring for your child from age 6 thru 12 and found it not useful at all. Thank You American Academy of Pediatrics for making my job as a mother so much eaiser and releasing me of any doubts about how i was handling things. Especially now when hormones are going crazy in both myself and my son! I LOVE THIS BOOK! Buy it and get the Birth to 5 yrs old for new mothers as a gift. They will love you for it!
