A child is genetically engineered to be the greatest athlete alive in the Hercules Lab in Russia. When saboteurs destroy the lab, a kind nurse whisks him away to the United States and names him Aleksandr. A few years later a drive by shooting claims the life of his nurse outside of their home in Detroit. Authorities place Aleksandr in the foster system, and he slips into an endless parade of bad foster homes in Detroit and then Cleveland. Finally, a foster family in Mayfield Ohio takes a chance on him and he finds love and acceptance and slowly discovers his amazing physical abilities aided by the beautiful and courageous Aaliyah. Along the way he battles small town politics, bullies, Russian spies, and his own internal demons to cash in on the one good thing fate dealt him, his athletic prowess.
