American Revolution: Biographies (two volumes) presents biographies of fifty-nine men and women who played a role in the American Revolution, either on the American or the British side. Recognizable figures include the first president of the newly formed United States, George Washington, and second First Lady of the United States and women's rights advocate Abigail Adams, while lesser-known figures such as Mary Katherine Goddard, printer of the "authentic copy" of the Declaration of Independence, and Joseph Brant, a Mohawk war chief and supporter of the British, are also represented. The fulllength biographies include sidebar boxes that contain additional information on the events and people surrounding the biographee. More than one hundred black-and-white photos accompany the text, while cross-references are made to other people profiled in American Revolution: Biographies.
