I discovered this book by accident and loved it. Barbara writes frankly about the joys and trials of being a Navy wife for 17 years and 26 destinations. She also copes with her husbands alcoholism, being a teenage bride and the being a wife of an enlisted man from 1969 to 1986. Life hasn't changed much. Her humor is always present but it is not Erma Bombeck. You feel like you actually know the Bennetts. If you like Betty MacDonald or Jean Kerr you will like this one.
