""Ancient Egypt the Light of the World V2"" is a book written by Gerald Massey that provides a comprehensive exploration of the ancient civilization of Egypt. The book delves into the history, culture, and mythology of Egypt, examining the significance of its gods, goddesses, and pharaohs. Massey also explores the spiritual and philosophical beliefs of the ancient Egyptians, discussing their views on life, death, and the afterlife. The book is divided into several chapters, each focusing on a different aspect of Egyptian culture and history. Massey's writing is highly informative and engaging, drawing on a wide range of sources to provide a detailed and insightful account of one of the world's most fascinating civilizations. This book is a must-read for anyone interested in ancient history, mythology, or spirituality.Other volumes in this set include ISBN number(s): 0766126544. Volume two of a two volume set. Gerald Massey was a celebrated poet and served as the model for George Eliot's famous novel, Felix Holt the Radical. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
On screen the book looks like it could fit in your bedroom drawer, but in reality it's quite a tome. If you have any interest what so ever in Egypt, and if you have ever thought to yourself that some parts of the Bible remind you of Egyptian lore - then this is the book to get. Massey have suffered greatly in modern times however. He did a poor job documenting his conclusions, resulting in the great majority of Christians ignoring parts of his discoveries. That said, it is Massey that (for me at least) is a pioneer in the field of comparative religious studies. Like all great pioneers he may not have buildt the city, but he did map the territory for those that came after him. There is little doubt that he was right about his conclusions regarding Christianity being a legacy of ancient Egypt rather than a new revelation. And it comes as no surprise that it took a poet to navigate this epic journey to the heart of antiquity. The ancients enshrined their knowledge in myths and legends - a substance only poets and artists can properly discern. Many view Massey as anti-Christian. But in fact, he wanted nothing more than for Christianity to embrace the full extent of it's own roots. Many of his conclusions have later been backed up by quotes from the early Church fathers. But few Christians today take the time to study even them. It is highly recommended and a classic.
