Angels Round About captivates those who love history and non-fiction with true-life details of pre-WW II Austria. The fictionalized elements of the story tie it all together and make the characters come to life, their struggles become so personal. This book also intrigues those who wonder about the connection between mere mortals and those beyond this world; the thread of sprituality throughout is touching and inspiring. I had a hard time putting this book down! The prequels are just as wonderful and even more packed with real-life stories of WWI and WWII Austria, England, and the Isle of Man. Nicholes has a real talent for weaving together history and fiction.
I love this book!

Angels Round About is one of those rare books that mesmerizes. The author, Lorie Davis, has the rare talent to take a real-life story and tell it with all the best techniques of a fiction writer. She is so descriptive that I can picture the characters and scenes as though I were there, and her characters are alive, breathing, real people. Best of all, even though the author does not sugar coat the hard trials of the main character, the story is faith-promoting and uplifting. I finished the book feeling edified and so glad I had read it.
A Grabber

From beginning to end this first part of a trilogy about the author's roots takes you back to pre-WW II Austria. Written from the viewpoint of a young girl you feel her triumphs as well as her disappointments. Lorie's sequal to this "Iron Rose" takes you one step further. The sequel gives the viewpoint of the girl's mother. Can hardly wait for the next sequel to this well-written, entertaining and stranger than life story of real people.
Wonderful story

This book is a wonderful blend of history and story. I SAW what the characters saw and FELT what the characters felt and all this without a single car chase! Basically told from a girl's point of view but amazingly entertaining even for a Tom Clancy type like me. A great book, nearly impossible to put down once you start reading.
