I completely disagree with the other reviewer's one star rating. These pictures, despite the small size of the book, are high resolution, inspirational, moody, and they do capture the essence of Angkor and this holy city's decaying magnificence. Not everyone can make it to Angkor and this book is a great armchair look at the place. Photographs cover from field shots to up close and detailed stonework shots. Different periods are detailed, from inception to Vishna to Buddhism and current worship. So, I say give the photographer & editor(s) credit where credit is due! It's hard to capture the mystery and beauty of this 100 square mile place in only 80 pages but, in keeping with the quality of most Shambala publications, they pulled it off. For the small price, you won't regret your purchase.
