Antennae
Antennae articulates a musical sensibility that reveals the beauty of love, the existential horrors of politics, and the pains of death or violence within intimate circles. In lines of mystical beauty, the poems (on love, hope, and hell) probe the innermost emotions, weave together literature and political vision, and question the meaning of collective life in Nigeria. The poems are personal and social, conservative and radical, passionate and acerbic, ultimately illuminating what it means to be Nigerian. This three-part collection is redolent with politics. Not only is love viewed through a political lens, but it is also the hope that engages the hell of politics in Nigeria and yet thrives. This hope takes some of hell's fire to renew itself and aspires to use it to light the pyre of revolution.
