What were you to me? More than you'll ever know
In life you were the man for all seasons,
From whom I sought the guiding light of reason,
The dearest friend that never needed my amends,
The older brother who guided me like no other,
You who opened a door through which I walked,
But never alone, for you were on the other side, too.
Yes, you were more to me than you'll ever know,
Yes, you are more to me than you'll ever know.
And it's thanks to you that now I grow into a person whose light you showed,
A light, a torch to you for my life and more.
For all you've given me - for what little I gave you in return.
