For 30 years, Miller's Antiques Price Guide has been the benchmark for authority and accessibility, acknowledged as the most comprehensive illustrated guide to antiques from around the world. The... This description may be from another edition of this product.
As a reader of Millers Guide in the '80s and '90s I can say that the new format is much improved and more usable. The "deep dives" into the anatomy of a particular item are a great addition. Keeps up with current trends, adding new sections on hot, new or emerging areas, although it will be 6-12 mths out of date by the time it gets into print e.g. current version still optimistic about the economy! Reason for losing one star is that it seems to indicate totally new pictures each year but quite a few can be recognized from earlier editions. Keeping fresh is what makes people buy the new version each year and the editors need to remember this.

Great book. Just what I expected. Lots of pictures and descriptions. If you are looking for a starting place in buying antiques this is a good book.

I have every book in this series. That going back to 1977 I believe. Judith Miller was the editor before 2003 of this series. She broke from publisher and there were other editors since 2004. She'd did her own copy of the guide for the last five years and now she came back for some reason. Both books are great. Nothing like auctions and pictures for every item. Don't forget, the listing of items are over a year old. The guide may say 20009. But the items were sold from late 2007 to early 2008. Remember that the items listed are over a year old. They use a range to give value. I would prefer the actual sale price. You could get that at the Auction house web sites for most of the larger item or using Artfact.com. This is really the only professional antique guide on the market worth the price. For any appraiser this guide has some use.

I bought this book for my step-Father who uses it to scout auctions. It's a great resource to have on hand for antiquers!
