My nephew recommended this book to me as a reference book that would explain the various parts of a bicycle and their function (and malfunction.) He, who has frequently cycled 100+ miles with friends for twenty-plus years. The book was a great leg-up for me as new cyclist: well explained and diagrammed.

The classic manual for owners and buyers of one-speed, three-speed, and ten speed bikes. Immensely readable and clearly illustrated, it guides the do it yourselfer in finding the problem and fixing it. Covers tools needed, brakes, handlebars, stem, headset, powertrain, wheels, seat, fork and frames.

This book helped a kid for whom things mechanical were mysterious and a bit scary. That kid took a department store bike that always rode "kind of funny" and made it a faithful steed. 27 years and many thousands of cycling miles later I just want to say THANKS!
A very clear and useful book!

I think that this is the one book that anybody with a bike needs. It covers all aspects of bike mechanics from the simplest, like choice of tools, to more complex, like working on the power train. There is a lot of practical advice about dealing with problems on the road such as straightening the front end after a collision, to replacing broken spokes. The writing style, and clear illustrations, make it easy to read.
SUPERB!

This is the best bicycle repair manual on the market. I have used an older version of this book many times and it has never let me down. Highly recommended for all bicycle enthusiasts.
