Learn AOL easily and visually. This book shows new members how to avoid pitfalls, hindrances, and annoyances that often befall those with little Internet savvy. By spelling out the intricacies of the pricing plans, and online scams, Bryant places users on the other end of the learning curve without wasting time reading a 500-page book.
I purchased this book for my mother, who at 77, is just getting familiar with a computer. This book guides the beginner through each step of AOL, making heavy use of screen pictures (two on every page!), with brief explanations for each action at each step. You are guided, step-by-step through the basic facets of AOL, including AOL usage & navigation basics, management of the account, basic internet usage, communicating with AOL (Email, chat, instant messager), and personalizing AOL. It does not go into detail on the content associated with the various "Channels" - but I feel that is for the user to explore. This book is excellent for the raw beginner. The screen examples point out which buttons to push and the results of those actions. It will save me several hours setting down and guiding my mother in the use of AOL.
