This book is the text version of the curriculum that was the predecessor of my longer and more comprehensive monograph, Repurposing Scars: Meaningful Life after the Enduring Damage of Trauma (also on Amazon). The target audience of Repurposing Scars encompasses the wide world of caregivers ministering to the damaged among us, in particular chaplains of all types and those who minister to scarred folks but who haven't had the benefit of specialized CPE or seminary training in pastoral care. The target audience of this book is students, whether in a formal classroom or self-improvement study via this guide, especially those who have been heavily scarred and traumatized in life. In addition to a PowerPoint slideshow and weekly notes from the slides, this curriculum represents the core of what I have been presenting for more than ten years to both male and female inmate students. The material has been upgraded several times over the years, this time to a book format, each stage of which has enhanced the ongoing cycles of my Family Systems class on the women's prison where I serve as Chaplain.
