This book offers a solid, usable and practical method for applying the bible. It covers all the bases such as: The Goal of application; How to interpret the Old testament; New Testament; Interpreting Proverbs. The book provides questions to ask the text to determine the limits of the passage, as well as providing an "Applicational Pyramid" to determine how to interpret what appears to have no application for believers today. I would heartily endorse this book. Although it is a small simple book, it is NOT simplistic. The language used is conversational, and it is an extremely readable book. The book would be more helpful if there are quizzes or self exams (with answers provided) to aid in the comprehension process. Other than that, I am almost prepared to say this is the best book written for applying the bible. I endorse it heartily.
It lives up to its title while acknowledging limits.

Someone has said "there is much heresy taught through bad applications of biblical truth." This book on applying the Bible is a good place to start to learn how to do application correctly. The book is divided into two parts. The first part gives general principles to accomplish this. The second part applies these principles to specific types of applications: biblical commands, examples and promises. He ends the book with a chapter on the limits of application which is a good reminder for the serious Bible student.
