This volume is indeed a comprehensive work that could serve as a stand alone source for Child Abuse and Neglect teaching, research, or training for practice. It is a helpful resource that I will keep throughout my professional career. I will say that there are grammatical imperfections throughout, and occasionally the implied outline of particular chapters is difficult to follow. This book is incredibly comprehensive and thorough without being hard to read or dry. I was at first daunted by the lengthy nature of the book, but it is exceptionally well written and is very interesting to read. The editors are very successful in clearly and concisely reviewing and organizing thousands of research studies on child maltreatment and making the results understandable and relevant.
