This text explores the nature and symbolism of the chakras, the link to Jungian individuation, and how the colour and experience of personal chakra animals support a spiritual and therapeutic process. The author also shows how the path of the chakras corresponds to fairy tales.
Arnold Bittlinger is a former priest who also studied at the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich. This combination makes for a unique and interesting look at the symbolic aspects of the chakras. The book begins with a basic overview of the seven main chakras and their associated elements (fire, water, air, ether, etc). The author then expands on this information with ways to harmonize and balance each of the chakras. The novel part of this is that the author includes physical exercises and biblical verse as the primary methods, as opposed to mediations, affirmations, or formalized chakra balancing techniques. The author then focuses his attention on symbolism. My personal favorites are the colors. I think that this was presented in a concise manner. However, the author also included thought provoking information for animals, biblical symbols, and fairy tales as relates to the symbolism already laid out from the chakras.
