I moved to Arizona in 1981, to help pave the Desert Southwestern expansion for the car rental company I worked for---Enterprise Rent-a-Car. At the time, I was a young executive from the Midwest, with absolutely no knowledge about Arizona's rich & colorful history, replete with tales of the Old West, including a few gunfights, bar room brawls, fueds, floods & other interesting anecdotes. This wonderful book by Charles D Lauer, is a compilation of many intriguing tales of Arizona's Wild Wild Past from the late 19th century, and gives the reader a rich dose of the Wild Wild West, before the Arizona Territory even reached statehood. Now that I'm considered an Arizona "native", I wanted to broaden the scope of my knowledge of my state's historic past, and Lauer's book is a tremendous history lesson. Anyone interested in folklore from an era long ago will want to grab this particular gem.
