This whole 50-state series is exceptionally well produced, from the quality semigloss paper stock to the cute state-specific repeating motif endpaper designs. The text is both ample and informative, but the real delight is in the many (necessarily smallish but well-chosen) gorgeously reproduced pictures! All aspects of the state's artistic heritage and ongoing activities are represented. A solid general introduction and timeline sets the reader up to appreciate the subsequent themed sections and their appealing images within a broad historical context. These titles make useful pocket companions and itinerary planners for state-wide art appreciation forays. You'll enjoy this one -- and want to collect the set!

I recently moved to New York, and this book was recommended to me by a friend who is on the curatorial staff at a NYC museum. I assumed that it would be for art-experts only. But, in fact, I've brought it with me each time I've driven throughout this state, and have found the book to be very enjoyable and filled with interesting stories. A real gem!
