For ten long years, Oscar Campbell has done everything from picking up his boss's drycleaning to FedExing her tropical fish. His job as personal assistant to a legendary -- and temperamental -- publisher in New York City has given him more headaches than leg-ups. Yet none of Oscar's experiences has prepared him for his greatest challenge: planning his boss's wedding. Juggling his unappreciated duties as a publishing assistant with those of a pro bono wedding planner, Oscar labors to pull together the event of the year without falling apart in the process. Help arrives in the form of popular wedding columnist Lauren LaRose, with whom Oscar strikes a bargain: his editorial expertise for her nuptial advice. As the two work together to manufacture the romances of others, they will stumble into one of their own. Hilarious and wise, literate and charming, As Long As She Needs Me is a sparkling fable of love and luck in Manhattan.
Vastly enjoyed myself reading this book. It's romantic, silly, sweet and at its heart very true to life.Yes the plot is unlikely - but the author brings in so many realistic touches to single 30-something life that you are willing to suspend disbelief and just have a heck of a good time.Darned good fun. I highly recommend it.

This is one of the funniest books I've read in a long time! Great insight into publishing and hilarious "theme weddings". Truly touches something within all of us who have looked for love at one time or another. Did not want it to end; hope to see more from Nicholas Weinstock!
As long as he writes ...

I will read. A wonderful, light read on weddings and working for someone else. From the devastatingly cruel depictions of his college roommates, to the wonderfully sarcastic commentary on the publishing world, this is an engaging book with a surprising ending ...
Clever, satirical, and thoroughly entertaining!!

This book is a delight to read. Weinstock has crafted an engaging story, populated with vivid characters, and punctuated with clever insights into human nature reminiscent of TV's Sex and the City at its best. This book is a must read for those of us who have planned a wedding, been as assistant, or worked in publishing. Although I have never set foot in a publishing house, I would love to know who his characters are based on.
Weinstock's Voice A Major Draw

Having never been married (or an assistant for that matter), I wondered whether the content of this book would appeal to me. I was pleased to find that Weinstock is capable of the sort of prose that might make any subject interesting. Unlike many contempory authors, Weinstock is quite adapt at writing realistic dialogue and he produces characters that, while treading the fine line of caricature in certain cases (i.e. the tyranical Dawn of Dawn's books and the lascivious Marion), actually seem like people you know. I also found the use of the publishing world to be an interesting backdrop to the sincere romance between Oscar and Lauren and the nebulous romance of the publishing giant (Dawn) and the super agent (Gordon). I wholeheartedly recommend this book as Weinstock's characters and their lives are presented with an easy style, a cunning wit, and considerable insight into human nature.
