Cute for pictures, but story feels forced

My 15 month old son likes the fact the "magic" pictures change as you move the book; there are between 7 and 9 words on each two page spread, which is perfect for the attention span of a toddler!; the illustrations (bugs under a rock, for example) are age appropriate; for those reasons, and that the illustrations are fairly cute and definitely colorful, I give the book 4 stars. I've docked a star because the story begins and ends so abruptly--no prelude to the park, and no leaving of the park. I think it's good for kids to be exposed to good writing wherever possible, and while a 6 page book is not going to be Shakespeare quality, I think it can be much better than this.
